As it has every summer for 77 years, Avignon is preparing to experience three intense weeks entirely dedicated to the theatre. From aficionados who swear by the ‘In’ programme to fans who discover the effervescence of the ‘Off’, there’s a myriad of ways to experience the Festival d’Avignon. Be right at the heart of the event by staying at the Hotel De Cambis.
At the heart of the ramparts
A few steps from the Rue de la République, the Place de l'Horloge and the Palais des Papes, the Hotel De Cambis welcomes you warmly in the centre of Avignon. From the opening of the In Festival on July 5th, don't miss G.R.O.O.V.E, an astonishing and very urban diversion of Les Indes Galantes at the Opéra d’Avignon, and Welfare, a gripping piece taken from a documentary on welfare recipients and performed in the very prestigious surroundings of the courtyard of the Palais des Papes.
Opt for the Off
Alongside the sharp and always committed programming of the In, the Off offers breathtaking diversity. Great classics by Shakespeare or Molière, one man and one woman shows, comic or dramatic creations, theatre for children, future Parisian successes, there is something for all tastes and preferences. It's also a wonderful way to see inside places that are usually closed to the public, including high schools, a former convent, an inner courtyard and more. And if you have trouble choosing from all the options available, ask the Hotel De Cambis team or chat on the terrace with other festivalgoers. That’s how the greatest successes of the festival are born!
From July 5th to 25th for In and from July 7th to 29th for Off, Avignon lives to the rhythm of the theatre. From the liveliness of the streets adorned with posters to the exciting programming, the days pass at full speed in the summer heat. Fortunately, the Hotel De Cambis is a real haven in which to recharge your batteries.
